Batters + Fielders

New In-Motion animated QuickTime version now available for WebBall Team Players. Please sign in or join.

Hitters hate doing all their B.P. in the batting cage. They want to see the ball fly; and they need to face live pitching. So Live B.P. is a necessary part of pre-season prep and in-season tune-ups. But it can waste a lot of time and talent. After all, some batters just can't hit every pitch. And the result is bored fielders. Here's a solution that won't squander the practice time.

RED lines are direction of ball throws or simulated hits.

BLUE and BLACK lines are direction of player movement.

Up the Middle

Minimum required for live B.P. is pitcher, catcher, one ball collector behind pitcher, four outfielders (two centres).

But outfielders will stand around waiting for the occasional fat pitch that gets belted their way.

That's where 'secondary batters'  and added fielders at first and third help.
